Lesson content and terminology practice
Learning Objectives
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

- Identify the main ingredients of soft drinks
- Use Relative clauses correctly
Theory
Soft drinks are non-alcoholic beverages that are widely consumed all over the world. The main ingredients of soft drinks are water, sugar (or sweeteners), flavourings, acids, colourings and carbon dioxide.
The production process includes several stages. First, the water is purified. Then sugar syrup is prepared and mixed with flavourings, acids and colourings. After that, the mixture is carbonated by adding carbon dioxide under pressure. Finally, the drink is filled into bottles or cans, sealed and packaged.
There are different types of soft drinks: carbonated drinks, fruit juices, nectars, energy drinks and functional drinks. Quality control is very important at every stage of production to ensure safety and good taste.
Modern soft drink factories use automated lines that can produce thousands of bottles per hour.
