- Explain the main functions of food packaging
- Identify different types of packaging materials
- Use Present Continuous Tense correctly

Theory

Food packaging is an important part of the food industry. It protects food from damage, contamination and spoilage during transportation and storage. Packaging also provides information about the product, such as ingredients, nutritional value, production date and expiry date.

There are different types of packaging materials: paper, cardboard, glass, metal, plastic and biodegradable materials. Each material has its own advantages. Glass is transparent and recyclable, metal is strong and protects from light, plastic is light and cheap, and paper is environmentally friendly.

Modern packaging technologies include vacuum packaging, modified atmosphere packaging and active packaging. These methods help to keep food fresh for a longer time and improve food safety.

Good packaging design also attracts consumers and helps companies to sell their products more successfully.
